Ginger Soy Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Everyone loves the unique flavors of Oriental foods, and you will find that there are few foods that are as rich as the Oriental style seafood appetizers. One such appetizer is the ginger soy scallop, and the combination of tastes inherent in the ginger soy scallops is what has made this appetizer such a treat. If you are looking for the perfect recipe for your next party, look no further.

The following recipe calls for the scallops to be wrapped in bacon and grilled. However, before they are grilled, they are soaked in a delicious Oriental sauce made with ginger, soy sauce, and brown sugar. The resulting marinade infuses the scallops with flavor, and, once wrapped in bacon, the tastes join together to make one of the best Oriental seafood appetizers.

This is actually one of the easiest appetizers to make, though it is important to purchase the scallops as fresh as possible. Bacon is easily found in nearly every supermarket, as are the main ingredients for the soy sauce and ginger marinade. Finding the ginger may require that you visit a local Oriental food store, especially if ginger is not in season at the moment.

Ginger Soy Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Ingredients -

2 dozen scallops
2 dozen strips of bacon
1 cup of soy sauce
1 medium piece of ginger
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation:

To begin, place the strips of bacon on a greased cookie sheet in your oven preheated to 350 degrees F. Cook the bacon until it is becoming golden at the edges, but is still pliable enough to roll. Remove it from the oven and set it aside.

Place the scallops in a small bowl. Add the soy sauce and brown sugar, and chop the ginger to be added into the mix. Stir well, add salt and pepper, and let the scallops marinade for 15 to 30 minutes.

Once the scallops have marinade, remove them from the bowl, and wrap the bacon strips around them. Skewer the wrapped scallops with bamboo skewers, and place them on a grill to cook.

It should only take about 7 minutes for the rolls to cook, but be certain to turn them over frequently to avoid burning them.
