One of the Best Holiday Appetizer Recipes - Apple Filo Appetizers

If you are on the lookout for holiday appetizer recipes, this apple filo appetizer recipe is a nice one. Filo, which is also spelt phyllo sometimes, is a flaky type of pastry. These filo cups are filled with an apple and raisin mixture. There is some lemon juice to add a touch of sharpness and some cinnamon to enhance the apple flavor. These are sweet party appetizers and they are great if you are having a party around thanksgiving or Christmas because they are so festive.

This is one of our most easy party appetizers, since you just need to combine the fruit filling ingredients and stuff the filo pastry with it, then bake it. Fruity Apple Filo Appetizers

Ingredients -

1 cooking apple, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon all purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons raisins
3 sheets filo dough
2 tablespoons melted butter
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Nonstick cooking spray

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Mix together the apples, sugar, raisins, lemon juice, cinnamon and flour.

Brush one of the filo sheets with some melted butter and put another filo sheet on top.

Brush that one with melted butter and put a third sheet on top. Cut this stack of filo sheets into 4 smaller squares.

Spoon ¼ of the apple filling in the center of each filo square, then pinch the filo around the filling, enclosing it but with the top open.

Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray, and then brush the remaining melted butter over the tops of the filo packages.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden, then serve warm.
