Spicy Homemade Salsa

This traditional Mexican tomato salsa is very easy to put together. It might be quicker to throw the salsa recipe ingredients in the blender but thick, chunky salsa is deliciously rustic. You can make this fresh salsa recipe as chunky or as smooth as you like.

A traditional Mexican mortar and pestle would be used to grind up the salsa recipe ingredients and spices and the spices ground in this piece of apparatus would give off a fantastic aroma, giving a great flavor to the dish but using a food processor is easier and if you use the pulse, setting you can control the results. Maybe you want to make it finer, rather than chunky, and you can do that if you want.

This is a vibrant and colorful salsa recipe and if you want something typically Mexican and bold-flavored, this is one of the best easy appetizer recipes to choose. There are lots of different types of salsa but this colorful, chunky one is fun and tasty. If you do not have scoop chips, you can just serve this as a dip or for people to help themselves to, to have alongside meat or fish.

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 jalapeño, de-veined and seeded (optional)
