6 flour tortillas, 8 inches across
½ cup pecans
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
½ teaspoon cinnamon
⅓ cup brown sugar
6 tablespoons white sugar
Preparation:
Break the chocolate into pieces and chop the pecans.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Brush 4 tablespoons of the melted butter over the tortillas.
Mix 2 tablespoons of the white sugar with the cinnamon and put this powder in a salt shaker. Shake it over the buttered side of each tortilla.
Stack the tortillas on top of one another with the cinnamon sugar side up.
Cut them into wedges and layer the wedges on an ungreased cookie sheet in one layer. Bake until crispy.
This takes about 10 minutes. Set the tortillas to one side to cool.
Whisk the rest of the white sugar, cream, brown sugar and the rest of the butter in a pan over a medium heat and bring it to a boil, stirring all the time.
Keep cooking until thicker.
This takes about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and chocolate.
Keep stirring until the mixture is smooth and the chocolate has melted.
Let it cool a bit. Arrange half the tortillas wedges on a serving plate and pour half the chocolate mixture over the top.
Sprinkle half the pecans over the top, and then repeat these layers.
These dessert nachos are perfect for any children at the party because a lot of the other appetizers might be too spicy or rich for them.
